European Country Festival

News

Current Pressinformation 2017, March 14th

We unfortunately have to inform you that the European Country Festival 2017 will not take place.

As Hansi Kiesler announced in a statement, he withdrew as the organizer of the European Country Festival. The event planned for September 2017 in Kitzbuehel will not take place. The reason for the cancellation are the ever-new requirements and increased cost demands on the part of the municipality of Kitzbuehel. Commitments of the community turned out to be unrealizable or unacceptable. To the end, the organizer and the city of Kitzbuehel could not agree on a payable location.

In only 2 years of festival activity has it been possible to make the festival a well-known feature within the country music of Europe and catapult the event musically into the upper league of festivals. More than 400 bands have now applied for a performance and more than 8,000 visitors came to the events 2015 and 2016.

The Staff of the festival regret the decision of the organizer very much. When and where the festival 2018 will take place can not be said at this time. A new organizer and a new venue are being sought for the European Country Festival.

We apologize to all fans who have been loyal to the European Country Festival and have already organized accommodation for themselves in Kitzbuehel. We would have carried the festival, but these circumstances doesn’t make it possible.

Now we are proud to announce: The 3rd. European Country Festival from 15 to 17 September 2017 will be happen in Kitzbuehel. Details about the Line-Up and the venue will be published a.s.a.p.

US Vocal-Countryband Home Free will performe at the Achensee

When the country vocal band “Home Free” took home the winning title from the NBC reality show The Sing-Off in 2013, it was the greatest moment in the career of the five country stars from Minnesota. It was the reward for almost a decade of continuous hard work, in which they perfected the art of a cappella-music without instruments, made only with the voices and claps. Now, these outstanding artists are coming to continental Europe for the first time, and will present their highly energetic performance in Austria, combining Nashville standards with contemporary hits, studded with quick-witted humor. The five-man band from Minnesota dropped their debut album CRAZY LIFE in 2014, which hit No. 1 on iTunes Country chart and No. 4 overall. The group recently celebrated the release of their third studio album, COUNTRY EVOLUTION, this past October. The release debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Country Album Charts, elevating the band “from auxiliary entertainment to headlining attraction” (Times Leader). “Home Free” are among the most successful winners of a reality show. Now the very likeable men, who are not only cheered on by the female members of the audience, are celebrating a debut in continental Europe. Here, there is already a huge community of fans who can hardly wait to experience this exceptional band live. We look forward to a very special performance by “Home Free” at Achensee.

Brazilian roots, joint performances with Dale Watson in Austin, Texas, and current based in Slovakia - that is the explosive mix, Tarso Miller and his Wild Comets delivers an original and energetic honky tonk show. 130 shows performed the Brazilian-born last year in his home country, he is now drawn and conquered from there throughout Europe and will occur on the 3rd day of the European Country Festival with his band from the Sugar Loaf in Brasil to Bratislava in Slovakia.

The European Country Festival is moving to Achensee!

The European Country Festival is moving to Achensee!

The European Country Festival will be held by the banks of Achensee in 2016. We have had to move the festival for logistical and organisational reasons. At the inaugural event in 2015 the festival was virtually sold out on Saturday and the demand for this year has compelled us to ensure that as many fans as possible get the chance to secure a ticket.

Unfortunately, capacity at last year’s venue was very limited and we were forced to look around for a new location. We have now been able to find a suitable site in Pertisau, by the banks of the wonderful Achensee, which will give us sufficient room and the right infrastructure to hold a festival of this kind in 2016. We are delighted to have found the perfect partners in the tourist board for the Achensee region and the commune of Pertisau.

However, we are unable to hold the festival on the originally planned date and have had to postpone it by a week to the weekend of 23–25 September 2016. This is due to the traditional Almabtrieb, when around 1,000 cattle and cows return from the Alpine pastures and are driven through the towns and villages. You could say that this is also part of the country scene, but the fact is that the festival site will not be available to us as a result of the Almabtrieb.

As a consequence of the postponement, HighSouth and The Lennerockers will unfortunately be unable to appear, because the bands already have other commitments in Switzerland and England. We will make every effort to ensure that HighSouth and The Lennerockers appear in 2017 and are currently working flat out to fill the slots with a distinguished band from the USA and a European band. We ask for our country music fans’ understanding in this matter and we look forward to welcoming you to Achensee. Tickets that have already been bought remain valid and do not have to be exchanged. They will be valid without restriction for the festival by Achensee.
